Madonna announces new sequel album ‘Confessions II’

April 15, 2026
Madonna is returning to the world of Confessions. Set for release this summer, she’s bringing a direct sequel to one of her most influential dance records.

After months of teasing, Madonna has officially confirmed the release of her new album, Confessions on a Dancefloor Part II. The record will arrive 3rd July and serves as a direct follow up to her 2005 dance album Confessions on a Dancefloor.

The standard edition will feature 12 tracks, while the deluxe expands to 16. The album will be released across multiple formats, including a deluxe vinyl edition that is already available to pre order via her official store for an eye watering £85.99.

The announcement follows a series of deliberate moves across her online platforms. Madonna recently cleared her Instagram account, removing all previous posts, before updating her official website with a teaser image showing a speaker positioned between a pair of legs forming the letter M. The visual references the club aesthetic associated with the original Confessions era.

A short snippet of a track titled “I Feel So Free” has also been shared to social media. The spoken lyrics include:

“Thanks for coming / sometimes I just like to hide in the shadows / create a new persona / a different identity / I can be who I wanna be”

They suggest themes of reinvention, a recurring motif throughout her career. The sound of the snippet is promising even though you can’t gauge how a whole song will sound from a 40 second clip but only adds to the excitement.

The project also marks a reunion with Stuart Price, the producer behind the original Confessions on a Dancefloor. His return points to a continuation of the electronic and dance focused sound that defined that record, though full details about the album’s style and structure have yet to be confirmed.

Confessions on a Dancefloor Part II is Madonna’s first studio album to be positioned as a direct sequel to a previous release. Further information, including the full track list and lead single details, is expected in the coming weeks.
