When the Grammy nominations were announced, the assumption would be that Charli xcx and ‘Brat’ were front runners to sweep the major award categories. Although she walked away with 3 awards that night, the album of the year nod went to Beyoncé.

The Brits went fully ‘brat’ last night however as Charli secured 5 awards including the big 3 – album, song and artist of the year as well as being nabbing an award for songwriter of the year and winning dance act to complete her quintet.

It signifies a massive shift in the mainstream recognition she has received this past year.. the praise and admiration her fans or ‘angels’ have been heaping on her for years.

While there were not any major upsets, the most surprising win was former Little Mix star, JADE who picked up the win for best pop act despite having only released 2 singles with an album due for release this year.
